Roblox Game Idea Generator: Random Game Ideas

Pick or shuffle a genre, a setting, a twist and a goal, and get a Roblox game idea written as a prompt you can copy or build.

Your prompt

Make a Roblox obby set in a chain of floating islands above the clouds, joined by rope bridges. Players run and jump through a course of stages that get harder, with checkpoints that save progress and a respawn after each fall. A storm rolls in every few minutes, and strong wind pushes players sideways until it passes. A timer runs from start to finish, and a board shows the ten fastest times on the server. Keep the first version small and easy to playtest.

Build this

Build this opens PromptBlox Create with the prompt filled in. Nothing starts until you send it.

How to use the idea generator

Not sure what to make? The generator above puts a Roblox game idea together from four parts: a genre, a setting, a twist and a goal. The ideas come from fixed lists on this page, so shuffling is free, needs no account and runs in your browser.

A genre here is only a starting point. PromptBlox builds from whatever you describe, so you can mix two genres, change every detail, or write an idea that fits none of them.

  1. Pick a genre, or skip it and press New idea. Tick “Keep this genre” when you only want new ideas for one kind of game.
  2. Change any part with its menu. The prompt updates as you choose.
  3. Copy prompt puts the idea on your clipboard for PromptBlox, your notes or a message to a friend. Build this opens PromptBlox Create with the prompt already in the message box.
  4. Add what only you know before you send it: names, colors, how hard it should be, and the moment you picture when someone plays it.

Build this does not start a build. Create opens with the text filled in, and nothing happens until you send it. You need a PromptBlox account to build; if you are signed out, you sign in first with Google, Discord or Roblox and come back to the same prompt.

22 Roblox game ideas by genre

Each idea below is a few sentences you can grow into a full prompt. The genre guides explain how that kind of game works and what to put in the prompt so the first build is worth testing.

Obby ideas

  • Rising Lava Tower: Climb a tower of spinning platforms while lava rises from the bottom. A checkpoint sits on every fifth floor, and the fastest climb on the server goes on a board at the top.
  • Museum After Dark: A course through a museum at night, over dinosaur skeletons and moving display cases. Each wing is a stage, and a guard's flashlight sends anyone it catches back to the last checkpoint.

Tycoon ideas

  • Pizza Harbor Tycoon: Run a pizza stand on a busy harbor. Ovens make pizzas, a delivery boat sells them, and upgrades add more ovens, a second floor and a faster boat.
  • Moon Base Tycoon: Build a base on the moon. Drills dig up rock, a refinery turns it into crystals, and each upgrade adds a dome, a rover pad or a launch tower.

Simulator ideas

  • Snow Shoveling Simulator: Shovel snow around a winter town, sell it at the ice factory, and buy bigger shovels and backpacks. New neighborhoods open as the backpack grows.
  • Treasure Diving Simulator: Dive for shells and coins on the sea floor, sell them at the dock, and upgrade air tanks to reach deeper, darker zones.

Survival ideas

  • Desert Crash Site: Survive after a plane comes down in the desert. Find water at an oasis, take parts from the plane, and repair a radio to call for help while sandstorms roll through.

Horror ideas

  • Closing Time at the Toy Store: Players are locked in a toy store after closing. A giant wind-up doll roams the aisles and follows sound, so players sneak between hiding spots to find the store keys.
  • Lights Out Library: Explore an old library during a storm. The lights flicker, a shadow creature only moves while they are off, and players collect missing pages to unlock the exit.

Tower defense ideas

  • Garden Defense: Protect a vegetable garden from waves of hungry bugs. Players plant sunflower turrets and scarecrow towers along the path, and a giant beetle arrives on the final wave.

  • Mountain Rally: Race rally cars up a mountain road through dirt, snow and tight corners. Checkpoints keep the race fair, and the best lap time shows on a board at the finish.

How to turn an idea into a good prompt

A one-line idea gives the build a direction. A prompt gives it rules. Before you build, add these four things:

1

Say what players do first

Describe the first minute: where players spawn, what they see and the first thing they do. A genre name alone does not tell the build how the game opens.

2

Name the places

List two to four areas and how they connect, such as a lobby, the main course and a finish platform.

3

Put numbers on the rules

How many stages, how long a round lasts, what an upgrade costs. Numbers are easy to test and easy to change later.

4

Say how it ends

What counts as winning or finishing, and what happens next: a restart, a new round or the next area.

The generator's first idea already names a setting, a loop, a twist and a goal. With numbers and a first minute added, it reads like this:

“Make a Roblox obby on a chain of four floating islands above the clouds, joined by rope bridges. Players spawn on a small starting island with a checkpoint flag. There are 12 stages, three per island: wide jumps between clouds first, then spinning planks, then rope bridges that sway. A checkpoint on each island saves progress, and a fall sends players back to the last one. Every few minutes a storm rolls in and strong wind pushes players sideways until it passes. A timer runs from the first jump to the last island, where a board shows the ten fastest times on the server.”
TipLeave out what you can add later. A first build with one loop that works is easier to fix than a big one with ten half-finished systems.

From idea to a game you can test

Paste the prompt into Create, or press Build this above. Pick a build level your plan includes: Free and Lite have Light, Pro adds Medium, Max adds High, and Ultra and Ultra+ add the Ultra level. The Free plan comes with a small weekly usage allowance. PromptBlox makes one concept image as the visual reference, then builds the world and its Luau scripts while you follow the Activity feed and a 3D preview. How long a build takes depends on the level and the size of the idea.

The first build is a starting point. Play it, then ask for one change at a time in chat, such as “make the storm come half as often”. When it feels right, export the .rbxlx file and open it in Roblox Studio on a Windows or Mac computer to playtest and publish. The guide on how to make a Roblox game with AI walks through the whole process, and plans and usage lists what each plan includes. PromptBlox is for creators 13 and older.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Roblox game idea generator free?

Yes. The generator works in your browser without an account and does not use any PromptBlox usage allowance. Building a game from an idea needs a PromptBlox account. The Free plan includes Light builds with a small weekly usage allowance.

Does the idea generator use AI?

No. It picks from fixed lists of genres, settings, twists and goals on this page and joins them into a prompt. Shuffling runs in your browser and does not call a server. AI only comes in when you build the idea in PromptBlox.

How do I come up with a good Roblox game idea?

Start from something players do, not from a theme. Pick one action that is fun to repeat, such as jumping, collecting or hiding, then give it a place and a reason to keep going. Keep the first version small enough to test in one sitting, and add more after you have played it.

Can I use these ideas for my own Roblox game?

Yes. They are starting points, so change anything you like and make them your own. Whatever you publish on Roblox still has to follow Roblox's rules for experiences.

What happens when I press Build this?

PromptBlox Create opens with the prompt already in the message box. It does not start a build: you can edit the text and pick a build level first, and nothing happens until you send it. If you are signed out, you sign in with Google, Discord or Roblox first, and the prompt is kept.

Do I need Roblox Studio to make a game from these ideas?

Not to start. You can build and preview the game in your browser with PromptBlox. To playtest the gameplay and publish it on Roblox, open the exported .rbxlx file in Roblox Studio on a Windows or Mac computer.
