How to Make a Roblox Game on Chromebook — No Studio Needed

Roblox Studio doesn't run on ChromeOS — but PromptBlox does. It's 100% web-based. Make a full Roblox game right from your Chromebook browser.

If you have a Chromebook and you've tried to make a Roblox game, you already know the frustration. Roblox Studio is a Windows and Mac application — it doesn't install on ChromeOS. The official Roblox "create" page just tells you to download Studio. That doesn't help.

PromptBlox solves this problem completely. It's a web app — no download, no installation. It runs in Chrome, which is exactly what your Chromebook already has. You describe your game, the AI builds it, and you download a .rbxlx file you can open in Studio on any Windows or Mac computer later (or share the preview link right from your Chromebook).

Why Roblox Studio Doesn't Work on Chromebook

Roblox Studio is built as a native desktop application for Windows and macOS. ChromeOS runs Linux apps through a compatibility layer called Crostini — but Studio's installer doesn't support this path reliably. Even when people get it running via Linux, Studio crashes frequently and 3D performance is poor on Chromebook hardware.

The Chromebook Problem

  • Roblox Studio only officially supports Windows + Mac
  • ChromeOS Linux workarounds are unreliable and slow
  • Roblox's own website doesn't offer a browser-based Studio alternative
  • Millions of students use Chromebooks — and can't make Roblox games

How PromptBlox Works on Chromebook

1

Open Chrome and go to PromptBlox

Open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook and go to promptblox.ai/create. Sign up for a free account — no download, no install, no admin permissions needed.

2

Describe your game idea

Type what kind of game you want. PromptBlox supports obbies, tycoons, and paintball arenas as full maps — plus individual items like weapons, pets, vehicles, and decorations as mods.

3

Pick a concept and watch it build

The AI generates a concept image, then builds your full game in about 60 seconds. Everything runs server-side — your Chromebook only needs to display the result, so even older or slower Chromebooks work fine.

4

Download the file or share the link

Download the .rbxlx file to your Chromebook's Downloads folder. Transfer it to a Windows or Mac computer to open in Studio and publish. Or — just share the PromptBlox preview link right now. Your friends can see a full 3D preview of your game without downloading anything.

TipYou don't need Studio to show off your game. Every PromptBlox creation has a shareable link with a 3D preview. Share it in Discord, send it to friends, post it on social media — all from your Chromebook.

Why PromptBlox Games Actually Work on Chromebook

Most browser-based "Roblox makers" generate broken geometry — platforms placed too high to jump, kill bricks that don't kill, checkpoints that don't save. PromptBlox is different because the generation pipeline is validated end-to-end before the .rbxlx file is written to your Chromebook's Downloads folder.

  • Platforms placed at jumpable heights. The pipeline calculates the maximum Roblox character jump arc and constrains platform spacing to stay within it. Roblox AI Assistant and most other generators do not do this — they place geometry by eye and ship obstacles that are physically impossible to clear.
  • Kill bricks that actually kill. Luau scripts are linked to Part names via string.find matching, so a Part named Lava_z2 gets the kill-on-touch handler automatically. Competitors hand-wave this step and ship lava that's just red bricks.
  • Checkpoints that actually save. Checkpoint mechanics are validated — the spawn-respawn loop is wired to the leaderboard service before the file is written. You don't hit zone 4 and respawn at zone 1.
  • Working physics validated by our 12-step orchestrator. Every generation runs through preflight, structure, mesh, decoration, platform-snap, and validation gates before the .rbxlx file leaves the server. If a step fails, you get a refund — not a broken game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I publish my game to Roblox from a Chromebook?

Publishing requires Roblox Studio, which runs on Windows and Mac. You'll need to transfer the .rbxlx file to a Windows or Mac device to publish. The generation (the hard part) is done entirely on your Chromebook.

Does PromptBlox work on school Chromebooks?

As long as the school doesn't block the PromptBlox domain, yes — it's just a website. If your school blocks access to game-related sites, you may need to use it at home.

Is it free?

Yes — 60 signup credits, plus an optional 100-credit Discord bonus after manual review. No credit card required. A map costs 30 credits and individual item mods cost 10–20 credits. See full pricing.

Does it work on Android or iPhone too?

Yes! PromptBlox works in any mobile browser. See our guide on making a Roblox game on your phone for details.
